Yes. When I applied for a position with Arizona Highway Patrol, as an IT person...you had to take a poly, and sign a loyalty oath. It was back in the late 70s. It was pretty common back then.

once my science teacher brought in a lie/emotion detector and even though i was nervous just because and even when i lied just to test the machine it didnt show up with me, though it showed up with all my classmates. i guess it just doesnt work on me lol.
