Why would my oli pressure light come on only when coming to a fairly abrupt stop? I just had an oil change. It only happens when stopping quick or cornering quick.

When that happens, There was not enough oil put into the system and you need to take it back to where the oil was changed and have them fix it. It could destroy your engine because the drain plug could be lose the filter could be cross threaded or they just didnt put enough in the system. When oil is low in the system it sloshes around when you are brakeing or cornering hard and the oil isn't being picked up by the oil pump so you go to a low oil pressure state and the oil light comes on.

If the car has a great deal of mileage and/or if the oil is a bit low, it could be losing oil immersion when the oil is moved away from the pick-up tube as a result of momentum. Check the oil level.

Because of the oil sloshing in the pan, and not getting "picked up" by the pump. No oil is sensed, which means no oil pressure.
