It might, and might not. Before going to Best Buy, compare prices or check online if its on stock.

There would be a 50/50 chance that the store would have it. You are right about the day thing, but it all depends onto which day you walk into the store and actually buy one. All stores have the game system available on different days. One trick is walking into the store different days of the week and see if they have them available. Ask the worker or workers and see when the Wii system will available, and if you could, have someone from the store hold one or pay in advance and have the employee call you when the Wii system is available. You will be one of the lucky ones that will get the first batch of the Wii when they get to the stores.

I wouldn't count on them being there.
I would get the wii at toys r us.
I walked right in on a Sunday morning and they had about 10 there.
If you go when they open on Sunday, this is when they get their shipment.
Do not go to best buy or target, even on the days they say they are going to get the shipments they don’t have them.
Good Luck
P.S. Some good games to get on the wii are wii play- the games are fun and it comes with an extra controller, and Need for speed carbon, a great way to utilize the motion sensing on the Wii and a good racing game! Another good racing game is excite truck, it is awesome on multiplayer.

Nintendo has reported shortages in the system currently. They have modified their production lines and are pumping them out fairly quickly now. However, most retail chains (I work at Best Buy) are usually out of them. In South Carolina, there are still lines in the morning every time a truck comes in.
So, if you're willing to drive around a bit, you can probably find one, but currently, there is not a surplus of Wii's being produced.
I would also suggest looking on EBay, due to the lack of good games, a lot of people are selling theirs along with their games. Wii's are pretty hearty systems and stand up well to shipping. But if you're leary of used stuff, then be ready to drive to a few places.

I highly doubt that you can just walk in a Best Buy and pick up a Wii unless you live in an area that has very few people and a Best Buy that has a bunch of Wii.

Why wouldn't they be? If you are unsure you should look online to see who has 'em and at what price. That way you know what you should expect.
