I want to major in something in college that will allow me to to study eating disorders. I don't really know how to explain it, but what could I major in that would allow me to interact with this type of situation as a career?

Hands down, psychology. I'm a psych major at a school that is best known for engineering, but all good psychology programs should cover the basics (though higher level classes before you graduate will vary). It all falls on the master's degree you get. Go for either a counseling or a nutrition one. Consider getting both! Good luck!

There are several areas that deal with eating disorders.

Medicine (become a doctor)
Nursing
Nutrion
Psychiatry

but the main area is
Psychology

Eating disorders are mainly psychological in nature and there is a vast amount of literature on this subject.

But there is no standard psychology, different universities emphasis different branches of psychology. So you need a university that emphasises clinical and human psychology (as opposed to spending 4 years training rats to press levers, or learning why we see the colour red as red)

But generally after 4 years of general psychology you would go on to study clinical psychology.

Your significant is much better important except you're attending an Ivy league college. yet, as between the others spoke of, a random lib arts degree may no longer get you the perfect pastime no matter if its from Harvard (although you would likely have a miles better perfect danger at touchdown a writing/editor pastime with a harvard english degree than one from a random state college.)

Psychology and/or Counselling...might not be a bad idea to double major with education, as those disorders are very prevalent with teenagers.
