For how long? How old were you when you first started? Have you ever tried quitting?

I use to be. I started at 16, smoked 10 years, then decided I'd had about enough of that nasty, costly, smelly habit. I quit cold turkey with no help(patches, gum, etc), I would only eat a few frozen reece cups when I got a craving(a few hand fulls a day). Then after about 4 weeks, I was good(over the cravings), then I started exercising(I couldn't when I smoked, no lungpower), lost 30 lbs!!

Yup........... for about 10 years, I have quit 5 times, for up to a period of 6 months max. I always plan on quitting, but things happen. Besides that I am a very healthy person. I don't smoke during the day, I am a massage therapist and I am aware of the sometimes offensive smell it can leave, so I only have one to relax in the evening

45+ years. 10 or 12 years old starting. Never tried quitting, or even wanted to try quitting.

I still walk 5 to 10 miles a day, swim a lot, do some hiking, work out, and the 2-3 packs a day haven't plugged up my lung.

A person needs to enjoy at least one vice in life.

Started smoking when I was 13. I smoked for 50 years and quit cold turkey in 2000. Now I can't stand to be around anybody that smokes. It actually chokes me.

I'm not a smoker, but my bf is. He has smoked for 11 years (started at 16) and is "trying" to quit right now. I don't think he's committed to it yet, and is saying it more to please me than for himself, but I try not to push because I know he has to do it for himself. Everyone who smokes knows it's not good for them, I just hope people value their own health and the health of those around them!

No,I don't smoke... I tried it while I was in high school, but I never got the habit....it is bad for your health, it makes you stink, yellows your teeth, gives you bad breath, its expensive, destroys your taste buds, ruins your fitness.... there is absolutely no good reason to smoke. My brother sometimes smokes in my house when I'm not here, and then denies it, but I can smell it the moment I walk in the front door.... the smell lingers for days.... he doesn't even notice the stench in his own house.

I started 20 years ago and I have quit several times. The longest I went without was for 18 months. (I know, I'm such an idiot for taking it up again). I'm gearing myself up for the next quit.

I tried to start, but I was too cheap to get addicted. I hated the prices in the early '90s and never stayed with it.
