no, actually it releases the same amount of eggs but, Less worthy eggs. The only thing that will make her release more eggs is a fertility drug, like Clomid. Eggs get Old just like we do!! Some cannot be fertilized some can. If her OBGYN told her this she needs to find a new one!!! twins can occur at any age obviously! It is just when the ovary releases two or more eggs instead of one, or the sperm seperates!

in short the answer is yes but its not because of being 35. let me explain. when a woman is getting her cycle for the first time or starting to lose it in menopause the cycle is very much off track and irregular. The body is trying to get it into a pattern or out of the pattern. as a result the chance of releasing multiple eggs is high..thus a higher rate of twins for very young mothers and older ones.

No. After 35 years old your body releases less eggs so it's harder for the sperm to fertilize one.
And yes, it is more likely that a woman over 35 can conceive twins. (attributed to older women who have used infertility treatments in the past)

Twins are greater after 35.. Funny thing is that I got PG Immediately with Baby #3 at age 37. Maybe some truth to that. When I say immediately, I mean the same night we tried for baby #3. Instantly Due date is 9 months later. Go Figure!

I had twins at 24.....
Factors that increase the odds of having twins
Some women are more likely than others to give birth to twins. The factors that increase the odds include:
Advancing age of the mother - women in their 30s and 40s have higher levels of the sex hormone oestrogen than younger women, which means their ovaries are stimulated to produce more than one egg at a time.
Number of previous pregnancies - the greater the number of pregnancies a woman has already had, the higher her odds of conceiving twins.
Heredity - a woman is more likely to conceive fraternal twins if she is a fraternal twin, has already had fraternal twins, or has siblings who are fraternal twins.
Race - Black African women have the highest incidence of twins, while Asian women have the lowest.
Assisted reproductive techniques - many procedures rely on stimulating the ovaries with fertility drugs to produce eggs and, often, several eggs are released per ovulation.

Once you hit 35, your cycles may become irregular. I have heard that your body may release more then 1 egg during ovulation because of this irregularity, but I don't know how true it is.
