I'm 31 years old, and I'm not ashamed to admit that yes, there are times when I'm afraid to, especially if I'm hearing strange noises in the house or have woken up from a bad dream. I face them by reasurring myself that nothing is wrong, no one could break into the house or that it was just a dream.

I am sooo afraid of the dark. I always have a light on somewhere. I am without a closet at the moment, but when I had one, I would tie the doors shut at night because I was so scared something would come out and kill me. And as for under the bed, I have to have my legs tucked in under the sheets because I'm scared something will reach out and grab me. And even now, I can't sleep with my back towards the bedroom door, lol. I'm such a weirdo.

I get scared when I freak myself out (i hear stuff or think i see things) or am in an unfamiliar place in the dark. Looking in the closet doesn't scare me at night, or looking under the bed. I just don't see how one could be scared to do either. It's not really logical. Neither is the stuff I freak out about sometimes in the dark (ghosts/spirits). It's a matter of convincing myself that there is nothing to be scared of, and there truly isn't.

When I went skydiving, I had my mind made up beforehand. You just do it. Living in fear is worse than the alternative. We all die. You weigh your chances and take the risk, or not take the risk. Sometimes not taking the risk is worse. You never know how you might have responded. It is better to face your fear than live with the spectre of it. Once you face it, you can move on. There is a semi great movie that was made in the mid 60's titled "The Dark at the Top of the Stairs." On one level it was about a five year old boy's fear of the top of the stairs; on another level it was his father's fear of having to choose a new career with the Ford Model T making the harness and buggy business obsolete. How we face our fears defines us

I'm not afraid of anything that has to do with darkness. You know how i face my fears, i think that if i get over this fear no one could possibly take advantage of it. Fear is the mindkiller, you just can't think clearly if you're afraid of something. Just face it, unless you're afraid of death cause that's just suicidal....

When I'm in the garage getting something out of the car I keep thinking that there's going to be a creepy guy that pulls me under by the legs. It's all in my head and I know it.

sort of. i wouldn't be afraid of the dark by itself, but i freak myself out a lot. i don't look under my bed at night because i freak myself out into thinking there's a bunch of ants down there. i have an irrational fear of ants.
