In Dragon Quest VIII what happens if I pick "No" when it asks if I want to send a monster to Morrie's?

I'm guessing I just won't be able to enter the Monster Arena? And, do I NEED to even enter the Monster Arena or is that just an extra fun thing?

you don't need to, but it helps you in the long run - your monster team can substitute in real battles when you get far enough in the monster arena ranking

i'll have to assume that you mean when you first start looking for those three monsters. if you say you don't want to send it back, nothing will happen - and after a short while, it will be back there, ready to fight again, but with no coin next time
