Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows info in the top 25 school in the country, and I am a sophmore. I want to Persue Medicine and want to go to Medical School. What is required to get accepted. Currently, my GPA is around 4.2, and I am/will be taking AP Courses. Also, I was wondering about getting accepted into University of Chicago or Northwestern University. I've taken courses like Honor Chem, and Honor Physics along with Honors/AP English and AP social studies classes. I've also participated in activies/sports such as tennis, and have volunteered at the local hospital.

First of all, it's "pursue", not "persue".
Secondly, what is your GPA out of? Is it 4? or 5? If it is out of 4, then that's really good. If it's out of 5, then that works out to be a 3.36/4...which is rather weak.
Thirdly, I hope you're aware that Medical school is for college graduates. So after High-school, you'll need to get into a college, do a Bachelor degree first, then apply to Med School.
So the question becomes: how to get into a good school for your Bachelors.
1) Ace the SAT. This is crucial. And aim to take it only once. If you repeat them, univs. will average your scores.
2) Get to know a couple of your teachers and guidance counselors well. They will have to write recommendations for you when the time comes.
3) Playing sports will not help that much unless you are really good. Try to become ranked in your school, state (or the country) in it - coaches will support your application if this is the case. Stating that you play tennis as a hobby is virtually worthless - you need to demonstrate that you're good at it. That means, win tournaments, get a ranking, etc.
4) Take a tough curriculum, and do well in it.
5) As for volunteering, that's good..try to organize an activity or lead something. Check this site for an award which you can work towards getting...

6) You will need to submit what your class rank is. This is crucial. The best univs like to see people within the top 5 preferably.

Lastly, if this sounds tough, it is because it is! To get into a good univ (and Chicago or Northwestern are), you really need to be a strong candidate in all aspects. Depending on the univ. the acceptance rate is usually 1 out of 10. So that means, you will have 9 other persons to compete against, and you will need to be the best candidate out of all! If your grades are good, and you're good in all those other things, then I would suggest trying for an Ivy-League univ.

Good luck.

If your GPA is a 4.2 out of 4, you're in excellent shape.

The top 25 universities are in the eye of the beholder. You can go literally anywhere for undergrad and get into virtually anywhere for med school... it depends largely on how you do in undergrad.

With your credentials, you appear to stand a decent chance at some Ivy League universities, which should be one of your first considerations. If not, there are several other excellent schools in the country. Save money and stay in state.
