I did....man, I was wrong.
One of my friends was amazed that I had never saw the movie, so, he rented it for me. Before, when he was telling me about it, he sort of hummed (not really hum, but I can't think of another word to describe it) the famous banjo music from the movie....I don't know why, but I just assumed that it would be funny. When, in reality, it's quite disturbing...

I can see why you thought it would be a comedy since everybody makes Ned Beaty and Dueling Banjos jokes. It is real disturbing, but it is real drama. Good films do provoke such deep reactions.

I saw it when it first came out. I was young and ignorant. I don't remember what I expected it to be like, but I was a little disturbed by it, too.

I thought it was going to be a murder story. The previews I saw looked dark. I was surprised :)
