Points and Runs are the same thing.

It is referred to as runs, not points. Similar to bowling (pins), hockey (goals), etc...
That was an awesome game. The Tigers killed 'em! (14-4)
And, to make it worse for the Cardinals, the pitcher(Andrew Miller) was making his starting pitcher MLB debut out of Double-A.

Here's something to learn, if you win 16-0 or 1-0, it is just one win. No more no less.
likewise, if you lose 1-0 or 15-0 it is one loss no more, no less.
