To do that, Honda would need computer images of every minute part of a Ferrari and I suspect that would be impossible to do. Also, it would contravene the present Concorde Agreement whereby each team must construct its own car and, seeing that Ferrari owns the intellectual property rights to the cars the team races, Honda and any other team would be in violation of of the Agreement if they copied it.
At the moment there is a dispute as to whether the Super Aguri and Toro Rosso cars are thinly veiled copies of the cars raced by Honda and Red Bull respectively, last year.
A solution has yet to be reached and it's believed Bernie Ecclestone is working on a compromise.
For the 2008 season, `customer cars' will be allowed, meaning one team could sell a chassis to another, but I suspect any team selling cars will retain the intellectual property rights.

Technically it wont do loads of excellent. For right here rationalization, i'm assuming which you implied a digital image and not technical CAD records with fabric information. The profile (examine shape) is one ingredient, the textile is yet another. An F1 vehicle desires stability peculiarly else and no image is going to tell you what the load and composition of the textile is. So in short, while you're making the race vehicle's exterior physique from the photographs, you basically cant stability it on your engine, transmission, suspension and braking.

They could make a replica of the body. But that wouldn't make it a copied Ferrari. The body is just aerodynamics. It's what's INSIDE that counts, and I hear that is pretty top secret stuff at Ferrari. Have you ever noticed that they don't let you into the garage much at all, and they certainly don't let you take a look at anything that's uncovered.

They would have to take a whole car and break it down piece by piece to do that. Doubt it if Ferrari fails to notice it... The body is not the only thing that is fast...its also the small things which you cannot see.

In the pits, you are allowed to take pictures once outside the garage... which means that there is a lot more things inside the car that they protect... and the body protects those secret things.

It should be noted though that Honda and Redbull gave the design models to Super Aguri and Toro Rosso, it's not like they just took a picture of it and transformed into a CAD model. That would be impossible or way too hard to be considered practical.
