For the record, I'm an Independent voter :)
Those I've known over the years, committed to either the Democratic or Republican party, would definitely stick to their principles regardless of economic status.
NOTE: There are many, many RICH Democrats--check out Hollywood :)

I'm neither a democrat nor a republican (I'm canadian). However my views tend to be more liberal than conservative (mostly libertarian, actually), so I might count. At any rate, my current reasons for supporting the political ideas I do are based on philosophy and logic, not my bank account. Whether or not being rich would have a sufficient subconscious effect on me to change my views I don't know...but I sure hope not.

Wealth is a myth as it relates to Party. Some of the richest people in the world are Democrats. That's why the Republicans like to label them "Elite". Some very poor people are Republicans, as they buy into a myth that if they think Republican they might just become rich.

I have noticed the tendency of people who benefited from Democratic programs to turn Republican when their financial situation improved dramatically. Sort of like "now that I got it, I don't want anybody else to."
Honey, half of what you earn also goes to pay for Social Security. You knew that right? Want to throw your granny in the street or tell Grampa to just have a heart attack at home and stay there? Oh, gosh, your kid is blind? Send him out to work. How about you when you become ill and can't work? Or, those freeloading 6 year old's of that construction worker someone hit with their beamer? All lazy, aren't they. Not to mention your roads, bridges, your cops, gosh, all useless.

I am rich, and though I don't officially identify myself with the Democratic Party, I lean toward their points of view. I would never consider becoming a Republican.

The wealthiest Senators and Congressmen are Democrats, that's not to say that there are any poor Republicans up there, they're all wealthy. They just keep playing the people in order to pad their own pockets.

No, because a lot of the democrats inherited most of their money while most of the republicans had to work for theirs.
