I've had this idea for a while now, and I think I'll give it a try. Basically, my idea is to conduct a simple little test for clairvoyant ability and to see if my resulting statistics support the existence of psionics or not. I don't believe in psionics myself, but I thought it would be a fun way to prove the conspiracy buffs wrong.
To go about it, I have saved a text file on my computer containing an integer from 1 to 10. I will know what the number is, but I will not choose it myself (it will be randomly generated). All I want you to do is to one, post your guess as to what the number is, and two, post whether or not you think you are significantly psychic. Best answer will be the first one to get the number right, and I will also post the statistics.
Finally, please don't report me for point gaming. The goal of my question is not to give out points, but to get some statistics and of course have some fun. :)

I agree with a couple of the answers here, especially Pangel. I am certain that what we call 'psychic' abilities are a part of our make up just as much as vision, hearing, touch and so on, but that we have let them lapse over several millenia. These are 'skills' that can be focused on, and developed, if we so wish. Some people find them 'scary' and push them away .... which is fine too, each individual must choose according to their beliefs and desires. The voices could be attributable to many possible factors, and most of these are quite harmless, be careful if you think that you hear a 'voice' telling you to do anything to, or about, anyone other than yourself, that is almost always an error. If, for example, you do find that you are beginning to recognise and develop what are known as 'psychic' skills, then please try not to 'force' them on others. For example, if you think you 'know' something that another should 'know' then try and allow them to ask you in some way for your 'input' rather than rushing up and blurting it out. Some people are happier not knowing some things ! Deja vu ( French for 'already seen' ) is actually very common, most of us get some 'shade' of this from time to time, and it is quite 'normal', as above, if you feel comfortable with that feeling then let it develop, mostly by focusing on it and seeing what happens. Actually having the experience of 'going somewhere' other than the physical location in which your body is, may be what is known as an 'out of body experience', and again is actually quite common. Most people experience as some kind of 'dream', and do not internally research the phenomenom. If you want to go into this just search 'Out of Body Experience' and see where that takes you. One word for the medical 'experts' here : Schizophrenia has been under severe review by the mental health bodies for quite some time. At a recent conference in Scotland it was agreed that it was no longer 'safe' to diagnose 'schiozophrenia' as a medical condition. To explain, both 'schizophrenia' ( split personality ) and 'multiple personality disorder' are now being looked at in an entirely different light. Actually we are all 'multiple personalities', as we grow and develop from infancy we 'adopt' things that we 'like' from the people around us, usually parents, siblings, outer family members, school frinds, teachers and so on. This laugh, that stance, some facial expression, and so on. How we utilise these elements in our daily lifes is a matter for each individual, but we rarely recognise just how much of our 'persona' is just an agglomeration of bits and pieces 'borrowed' from dozens, maybe hundreds, of 'others'. It is now thought to be a process that continues from 'birth' to 'death'. So don't worry, all these armchair psycologists are probably just as 'schizophrenic' as you or me, or any of us here.

I truly believe that you are confusing psychic ability with the ability to outsmart a piece of machinery - we call that ingenuity or mechanical ability. If you would like a demonstration of psychic ability, how is this: You never meant for this to be a test. Your intent was to say: Hah! I knew you people would never get this!
By the way, science and psychic abilities do mix, despite what you are trying to convince yourself. You do not have to choose. Your abilities do not make you any less of a scientist, they simply give you a little more insight into the human beings you deal with every day.
Although you didn't ask, give the guy a break, he really is sorry! From my own perspective, it would be to your advantage to be more accepting of people and not always try to prove them wrong.
If you would like to conduct a remote viewing exercise, my friend, that has been way overdone. Sorry for the tone of this e-mail, but please, if you intend to challenge, do it in a way that is less insulting to people who know the truth.

Statistically, it would seem that one out of ten people will get the right number? And if some hacker could get in does that make them psychic? I may have had at one time had some clairvoyant ability, but not anymore.(sigh)
