How do they dress? and How do they act? Would I recognize one if it ran over me with a steamroller???

I really didn't know the emo question was this popular...but anyways, they dress usually dark, and they act like half of their soul was devoured by the reaper (or something like that).
stereotypes include: being a spoiled rich kid who just HAS to find something wrong in his/her life.
cutting for pleasure or simply for pain...(don't know if that makes sense)
dark poetry, mostly about death, blood, and dieing
they hate me,you, the rest of the world, but mostly themselves.
to me this is just another weak far fetched perspective of what emo truly is...just another category of music.

It's complicated and highly silly. The word is short for 'emotional' and they dress basically dark and dingy and effect melancholy and deep interior melodramatic angst. Imagine, an adolescent who's melodramatic and angst-filled, hard to conceive, huh? It also gets into musical genres and stuff like that. Google it for deeper info. It's lame, but not quite as lame as goth.

it is NOT a person
it's not a person who cuts
or anything like that
it's music genres
like UnderOATH, Dir En Grey, Nightmare, Eyes Set To Kill. Etc..

Emo originally is a type of music, originally old school in fact. But kids today who think that the world is going to give into them and feed of thier made up pain to give em pity. eh eh. Hell no.

dont listen to people that say its music, its not! emo IS when they cut there selves when they get very angry! it alsom meens someone who is happy for 5 sec, and then sad in 10 sec later, they dress gothic stle or punk stlye, they act sometimes boring or there non talkitives, and im not sure about the last question, lol!!
