Because he answered and got the most best answers in some certain category that is very unpopular., like yahoo bookmarks. You see you get a top contributor if people picked your answer as a best answer most times out of everybody in a certain category. Categories are on the left of the computer screen as a list. In a category such as polls and surveys, you will see the contributor listed above the question. Plus he must have answered a lot, therefore be at a very high level.

You don't need 10% to get a top contributor badge, as this has nothing do with the points, percentages or leader boards. To get one you have to try hard and contribute as often as you can, the percentages are nothing. Did you know if one person has 99% but they are not an active and continuer answerer, they still will not get a top contributor badge!

And this is the very prove that you do not need 10% to get a top contributor badge.

Well GleN wont have it for long, thats for sure unless he has done something to someone on the staff lol. As for whoever asked if you can get more than one catergory on your badge, the answer is yes cause I have 3 different ones even though I am only on one now hehe! I got it by having about 20% on each of the catergories then after I get them I just answer at least 1 question a day there. You'll get it again someday Chairwizard.. Maybe the staff prefer tables?

I still don't quite understand the basis for the "Top Contributor" badge !!

I've held at 13-14% best answers... but then when I was offline for two days... it went away !!

Can one hold a badge in more than one category ?

I think you are old enough to know. I believe he has been handing out some "special favors" to the folks at yahoo. And you notice that our own Kind Judas does not even have an orange badge. Go figure.

This guy asks a ton of questions. I think yahoo must award for that as well. That could be the only explanation possible in this case.

Some people have more than 10% but still don't have a badge. Well, Y!A plays favorites but we don't need the useless badge anyways! ;)
