no im not saying all those other people aren't good and don't deserve recognition but few know who borlaug is and more should. weather he is the greatest man is opinion but i think he is unless anyone can prove somebody else might be whose existence isn't questioned.

This is one big reason why I like Yahoo Answers so much - I've learned a lot by participating.
I'd never heard of Dr. Borlaug, so I followed the link provided and read about him.
I don't know if I'd agree that he was "the greatest man in history", but he certainly deserves a very high ranking - and he surely merits a LOT more world-wide recognition and admiration than he currently has.

I guess the question is 'have you ever heard of him'
and my answer is 'no, not until you posted this question.'
Thank you for sharing this!
I think our commercially-biased media conditions people to respond to controversy or conflict, so that solutions don't always get the attention they deserve. The newest Nobel Prizewinner also deserves attention for Microcredit Financing and Banking where replicated efforts can end poverty the right way and change the world.
I would much rather people reward positive constructive actions, behavior and ideas, and quit catering to violence and bullying, abusive or threatening behavior. Thanks again!
P.S. As for the other posting on Jesus Christ, that was my first impression also! On another message, I mentioned that while Mohammed has been credited as the most influential political figure in history, due to his dual role as military and spiritual leader that no other person can claim; I would also say Jesus Christ has the greatest spiritual influence on humanity, as the central figure who has affected both the past and the future, by transcending time and space to join all souls by conscience to universal truth, reflected equally in both natural and divine laws that govern humanity. No other person can claim that place in history. Both the prophecies before and after Jesus that He inspired have influenced generations throughout all time.

No, I hadn't heard of him. That was a very interesting read, and it must have been, I read the whole thing. I never read a whole wikipedia article about a person. But I don't agree with your statement, I think the greatest man in history was Jean Henri Dunant.

neat!
You really do not hear much about him!
It just goes to show how many can be saved with something as simple (but not really that simple) as helping them to grow more food.
That shows how important agricultural science is!
