Its not that bad. I am a freshman now and am going to be a sophomore. My advice to you is not to get behind with your school work because once you are behind....you can never get back on top. 1 assignment missing will totally mess up your grades and this is when grades REALLY matter! Just stay focused and don't let all the dramalicious events bring you down. Oh and also the older kids will be mean to you! Just don't pay attention! You will be fine! GOOD LUCK!

I'm beginning to think that middle school has become the new high school in terms of culture. It seems like the tweens have really taken on to the angst and cliques and other elements traditionally considered to be part of high school life and have made it their own. If "teen movies" have shaped your expectations of high school, then all you really have to do is adjust those ideas into a middle school setting and you'll have a surprisingly sound basis for what to expect in middle school. Admittedly, some things do carry over from one to another, but in my experience, middle school is the place where people do the most experimentation with how they portray themselves in the school environment. By the time they reach high school, most people are fairly secure in whether they're the "jock" the "nerd" the "outcast" or what have you. From what I've experienced, by that time, those things barely mattered, though they were gravely important in middle school. As many before have mentioned, this sort of turbulence can have a way of making middle school harder on some than others. That, along with the fact that at middle school, one doesn't really have to have much motivation for success (college/"real life" isn't necessarily right around the bend for this bunch), so experimentation in numerous ways is a much more enticing option for them.

I'm currently in high school
I hate it.
It probably really depends on which high school and your own personality
But for me, my teachers are horrible. They really step it up a notch in high school, and the work is tough. The work LOAD is bad, as sometimes I am assigned literally three essays in one week and a project all at the same time. Higher expectations. Not as lenient.
Just stay on top of your work and what you have to do and should should be better off than me. (I am a horrible 'procrastinator' and the work always catches up on me)
Homework is assigned like crazy in high school, for me anyways-I'll get about 5-7 hours a night! So then, you're up way past midnight just completing homework, sleep 5 or 6 hours and get up early in the morning and do it all over again.
Not very fun.

Depends on which school, and who you hang with. It can be very bad, specially in public schools in larger city-tough neighborhoods. If you're anywhere like that go to a private school if possible. If not, don't worry too much, do your best not to get involved with the drama, fighting, drugs... It can be enjoyable even fun. For me, couple of trusted friends and some really great teachers is what made the difference.

I don't think its so bad
But then again I go to a specialized science high school and it's swimming with nerds, who are generally reall really nice. I guess it's bad when it comes to workload, but everyone's high school expiernce is different, especially if someone is "popular" or not.
You don't need tips to survive, just don't crumble under peer pressure, and get to know who are real friends, people who won't pressure you into stuff you dont wanna do.

i think it depends where you go as far as a good high school. i go to one (relitivly) out in the country and its pretty good. im in grade 9 and im comferatble with high school life and all right now. the first month or so was "scary" though. erm well to tell u the truth like pple always talk about "surviving" highschool, but i dont see how you wouldnt "survive" i mean its not as bad as they make it out to be in the movies and on tv. just do ur homework and class work, dont skip and try. thats pretty much all u need. also if theres like one thing i could tell u that u need to do, is make sure ur friends with ur teachers. i mean im friends with mine, it really helps, like if there marking something of urs and for example they dont know weather or not to give u a 79% or 80% if ur friends with the teacher she'll prob. give u the benfit of the doubt and give u the 80%. like, just last month i had a major french test (i suck in french) and i totally bombed the test i got 21% on it then did a re-test and got 23% but then the teacher told me that like when she marked my mark in her book she had givin me a pass because she said i tried hard. so its just little things like that, cuz im sure if like i skipped and did druggs and stuff she would have just givin me my 23% and not cared (she gets paid either way lol.. thats what she always tells us).. so ya thats about everything.. plus my fingers are getting tired lol. remember, dont do drugs.... and use a condom! lmao jks

NO! High school is five million times better than middle school. For one, people don't care what you wear. That was better in my situation. Everyone is more mature.
AND. . . (drum roll) You can hang out with more ages of kids!
The only bad thing is, you get more homework and, exams.

Do what I did. After the first year of high school, during the summer, I took the GED, got my HIgh School diploma, SKIPPED the 2nd and 3rd year of high school, and instead, went directly to college.

High school is bad with the bullies. The bullies are meaner, the rumors get nastier. The actual school work doesn't get too bad.
