I am looking for a law school that lets you take credits at like 6 or 8 a semseter. I already have a phd in Engineering and work full time as a research scientist. However, to reach senior scientist status, you are required to complete a JD. I am willing to do this, but I have a young family (wife, an 18 month old, and another one on the way). If I could do the classes at half the rate of part time, it would be ideal so I could still spend time with my family. Any suggestions? (maybe wait until my kids are teenagers, but thats 15 years or more!)

I work for a defense contractor and its their requirement for the JD because of IP Rights and Patents we develop along with complying with international and local laws. No salesmen involved. They pay for it so I don't mind it.

You might find an accredited school that would allow you that kind of control after the first year, but I don't know of any that deviate from the same required courses in the First Year.

Engineers have to get a JD to become scientists? I'd like to meet the salesman that convinced them of that one. On second thought, maybe I'd rather not. I don't need another elephant.
