JO, there are only two kinds of people in the world. There are Yankee fans and those who wish they were Yankee fans. I would venture to say that it's envy more than hatred. Fans of other teams should be upset with their own teams and their ownerships. It would seem that all the other teams in baseball have never made the same commitment to winning as the Yankees have. That in itself has never been fair to the fans who support other teams. Sure, the Yankees are having some problems just like any other team. But it happens so infrequently that it's big news when it happens. It gives their detractors something to cheer about. The fact it the Yankees ARE an amazing team. Their history is greater than any other franchise in professional sports. I for one am proud to be a Yankee fan. I have been all of my life.
I too think Clemens will help. You are as smart as you are beautiful and yes, a 27th world championship sound good to me.

Rings do not smell. Therefore, the Yankees suck.
Seriously though, do you really think that Clemens can completely turn that team around? Their pitching may be helped in the situation slightly but Clemens is good for about 6 innings every 5 to 6 days. Even if you win 2 out of every fives games with Pettitte and Clemens you are still way out of the AL East. A-Rod is slowing down and the rest of the team may follow suit as well. Things are not looking good this year.

I hate Yankees fans, not the Yankees and the only thing I can smell coming from the Bronx is the stench of losing. I'm a Royals fan, so I know that smell very well, and yep, that's definitely the stench of team that will miss the playoffs.

Arrogant yankee fans, an owner that will spend more money then anyone else in order to win, how's that for starters.
Try winning based on a level playing field, by doing it with better scouting and development, NOT just by outspending everyone by 3x the money....
There are some TEAMS that have payroll lower than what George is paying Rocket ALONE for this year.
Yeah, they win every once in a while, but if you took wins and divided it by payroll, they would be scraping the bottom of the barrel!

People hate them because they spend so wildly and freely to get the top free agents that it creates a huge competetive imbalance. This team has a $190 million payroll and can't get to a .500 record because they aren't a team, they are 25 guys showing up to do their job and go home. They all have egos too big for anyone to deal with, no wonder Torre has lost control of them and is about to be axed.
Clemens is a 6 inning pitcher at best now. He's 45 and lucky he can still throw 90+. He won't be able to do a damn thing to bring them out of the hole they've dug themselves, he's a pitcher, not Jesus Christ!
Oh, and other then New York, and apparently Johnston, RI, no one likes them or their fans because you're all pompus.

The Yankees: The team people love to hate.
Why? Because they're so good. That's why. They always seem to have the best players. It's always a safe bet to make that they will make it into the post season some how. We love to hate the Yankees because it's fun. Is it fun to make fun of a team that actually sucks? No. It is more fun to make fun of a team that is good.

There's no way the Yankees can get back into the playoff race with an over the hill pitcher. Even guys in AAA were going yard on him. You know what I smell, I smell the funk that's going on in New York. Torre will lose his job and A-Rod will demand a trade. The Yankees are going nowhere, fast.

The best description I ever heard about the Yankees goes like this:
"The Yankees are like heavy metal music. It's not the thing itself that's so annoying, it's the sort of people it attracts."
The Yankees are a baseball team. Historically the franchise has seen a great deal of success, largely because of clever front office moves, often backed by financial wherewithal that no other team can match. Yay, good for them.
Yankees fans -- whose only claim to participation in the Yankees glory is choosing which team to support -- not only push this success down the throats of fans of any other team (Red Sox fans are a favorite, but they'll do this to anyone), they also belittle any success, or emphasize predominantl failures, of any other team. Winning isn't enough; everyone else has to have their faces shoved in the dirt.
I don't hate the Yankees (except in a good-natured, love-the-game-regardless sort of way) and I don't hate any individual Yankee player (except Bernie, and why isn't important). But Yankees fans -- not all of them, but the insufferable ones, who number many -- I can do without.
Fans of other teams usually need to be stinking drunk in order to be complete jerks. Yankees fans seem to have it in the blood.

The Yankees aren't really hated becuz they are good or becuz they won so many World Series Titles, it is becuz they have such a big bank roll. I would love to see how good they can perform with a normal size bank roll. They have to use all their money just to get a team to get to the playoffs, how bad.

hmmm...aside from being the team with the biggest payroll in a sport without a salary cap it could be that we dont hate the yankees but more likely the arrogant yankee fans...so you won some world series, try doing it on a budget...
