Kids have seizures for many, many reasons. Epilepsy is only one of them. There's no way of knowing until the doctors see her, and even then, it'll probably be a mystery unless she continues to have them. They'll probably do a number of tests to look at her brain, make sure there's nothing obviously wrong, but if there isn't, then it'll be extremely hard to tell what caused this.

I'm sorry - wishing the family the best and hoping it was a one-time only thiing!

(and everything has a correlation with autism these days :P It means nothing)

Hello. My Son had a seizure this past January for the first time. He was born normal, no defects of any kind. This was the most terrifying experience of my life. He had no fever. He was rushed to the ER where he had 2 more seizures. He was hospitalized for a week where they ran many tests..........CAT Scan, MRI, spinal to test for meningitis, and alot of blood tests. All tests were normal, thank God. He has not had any more seizures since. We still do not know what caused the seizures. If he has another the doctors say he might be epileptic. But it is probably not severe since he has not had any more. He is on Keppra, which is a seizure medication. This past monday he saw his neurologist who is now taking him off his medication. If he doesn't have any more seizures we can consider him a normal little boy. These thing happen. I've been torchering myself but have learned to live with the stress of worry.
Please tell your friends they are in my prayers. If they need anyone to talk you who has been in the same situation they can contact me. Tell them not to leave the hospital with out them doing every test possible!!! They wanted us to go home without doing the MRI but I refused!! Tell them to ask every question!!!

So sorry to hear that. That is terrifying.

Not to scare you but this could have a correlation with autism. Some autistic kids have infantile seizures. Make sure they ask about what signs to look for.

God bless!

My co-worker's 19mo. old daughter just had a seizure as a result of a fever. If she had a fever it could have been due to that.
