Joe,
6 years ago, I might have pulled over, yet knowing "WHOM" was the real robber, since the guy witth the gun could be the owner or the robber - these days.
today, ai would call for help.
As a mother, my "degree of courage" was shifted to protect my family first. That is an honest answer.

To know the events that transpire before the observed
scenario would be key. For instance, in some situations
it might be the robber who is being beaten, and if a
presumptuous passerby attacks the victim then has
justice been served. That said, if an individual, regardless
of justification, is beaten into submission then I would be
bothered to see another individual continue to attack. The
police are trained to handle aggressive mediation.
Therefore, most of the time the best thing to do is to call the
police. It is not the average citizens responsibility to get
involved in domestic disputes. However, sometimes morality
might suggest that an individual does take some action to
prevent harmful results.

Every suffering stranger I see just hurts me inside. Maybe it's the kid sitting alone at the corner, or it's the person being robbed. I would have the impulse to help, but like most people, my thoughts for my self are most important, simply because it is human nature to be selfish. Even in helping someone else, you gain personal satisfaction from thinking of yourself as a better person.
So, pretty much, since I'm not much of a fighter, I wouldn't help unless I had a crowbar or something handy.

I have to be honest with you. The very sight of those robbers and possibly armed, will discourage me from helping you. I am no coward but not a fool either. The very most I can do is dialing the police, or shout aloud for others to render you assistance. Possibly the commotion would cause the robbers to take flight.
Call it the least I can do, but sensible. Assuming I was to run away without doing anything, I reckon you will be dead for sure. On the other hand rushing blindly to help you physically, a good chance I will be dead as well and including you off course. The act of my coolness possibly saves your life instead.

Guess I've always seen helping people as a no-brainer - ya do it because it's the right thing to do and you hope that if you were ever in a similar predicament, someone else would do the same thing. As to how far I'd be willing to go to help a stranger? I don't think that's something you can really know ahead of time.

That is a very good question. Not knowing you from Adam, out of the goodness of my heart and as a fellow human being I wouldn't turn my head as if I didn't see you getting robbed. Being a rather not strong woman physically, I could make a big scene by screaming fire fire! while dialing 911 on my phone for you and taking down any identifying marks of the assailant and his vehicle. Thieves are dumb, with the possible exception of career thieves, and the noise from my screaming will more than likely cause them to flee.

If you're being beaten at the side of the road, how do I know you don't DESERVE that beating? For all I know, you've been apprehended by well-meaning citizens after witnessing some of your monstrous deeds.
I do not generally interfere in situations where I do not completely understand what it going on. But I would probably stop and watch. Which could help too - few criminals are willing to persist in their crimes if they know they are being observed.
Peace.

Absolutely. I have enough fighting experience and am in good enough fitness that I feel I could stop most robbers or muggers- especially with you helping. An gun-wielding robber, however, is different- I would stay out of sight and call the police if I thought there wasn't a good chance of a sneak attack from me getting the weapon away safely.

While this will sound self serving, I have long sought the opportunity to help someone in great need, even at risk to myself to do so. Have never found the chance though so I am not sure what exactly I'd do but I have proven myself in combat.

Honestly, I wouldn't help you, because I don't know you, I don't want to risk my life for someone I don't know, and how do I know that you would ever go out of YOUR way to save ME? Of course, it really depends on what is happening. If you dropped money on the ground, no matter how much it was, I would give it back to you. I would hod a door open for you, if I didn't think the door would stay open for you long enough, and that's about it. Sorry you had to hear that.
