They get very emotional and dont want to talk about it. "Your just forcing your belief on people".
Is it because prolife people can easily should down everyone of their arguements like...
1 "a woman has right to her own body"
- my fist is part of my body, can I go around hitting anyone I want?
2 "The constitution doesnt define when a fetus becomes a person"
- it doest say you are a person either and blacks were once defined as less than a full person & they had science to say so.
3"a man cant make that decision. he wouldnt understand"
- this from woman who have never been pregnant. so, if you've never been in a war, you cant be anti war?
4"you're forcing your religion on woman"
- what religion, since when was atheist a religion.
5"its a private decision"
- So is burying my mother in law in my backyard at night.
6"its freedom of choice"
- but deciding what school your kids go to isn't (oh thats right you killed your kids).

As long as you don't define "debate" as "agreeing with you", then I'm game.
1) Yes, you can go around hitting anyone you want. Do be prepared for consequences however, because unlike abortion, assault is actually illegal. On the uglier side, people may hit you back, and if you uttered that sentence out loud, women may gang up on you with weapons for comparing their uterus to your fist.
2) It's not much of an argument, but I suppose it's true that the constitution doesn't say that, why would it?
3) What exactly do you see as the common link between War and Pregnancy, to validate this analogy?
4) What's interesting, is that the Bible doesn't even say abortion is wrong. Jesus never once mentioned abortion, in any way. Whether you think it's right or wrong, and I actually think it's wrong, it's a blatant lie that this is a biblical issue. That doesn't mean you aren't attempting to force your personal beliefs on others, but it's true they aren't religious beliefs.
5) Only for as long as you live there. When you move out, you should remember to take Mom with you, or the next owners will get a horrible suprise when they plant their tulips in the spring. Abortion clinics clean up their own messes (as distasteful as that is), so again the comparison doesn't really hold water.
6) People do have a choice in what school their kids go to. There's many wonderful private schools available, also it's a common practice for parents to relocate toward the free public school districts with higher reputations.

It's okay, I understand you might be a little rusty if you've been having a hard time finding someone to debate. Take some time to think about it and build a factual case, and let me know. I really do love honest debate!

Have you ever noticed how the framing of an argument can make all the difference. In your mind pro-choice has become pro-abortionist. I don't know of anyone who is for abortion. Sure there may be one or two crazy women out there who see it as a first line of birth control. Being a guy I wouldn't know, but I would imagine that for a vast majority of women, making the choice to have an abortion would have to be one of the most painful possible. As to your arguments: 1. Hitting someone with your fist bears little resemblance to having an abortion. Have you ever thought about the damage a fetus might sustain while growing in the womb of a woman who never wanted it to begin with, let alone being raised by same woman? 2. The Constitutional definition of life never concerned me as much as the right to privacy and the freedom of religion. To me, a woman's decision to have an abortion (or not) is about as personal as a decision can be and should be up to her, her doctor, possibly the father of the child (depending on how whacked he is), and her god (if she has one). 3. Again you're comparing apples and oranges. I don't have to go to war to know it sucks. I couldn't begin to imagine being pregnant. I'd love to answer the rest, but I'm in a bad spot. Closing time.

please baby, you've been talking to wrong pro-choicers. we love to debate and i've only encountered the opposite with the whole emotional schtick. so lets talk.
1. MY body MY fu*king choice. its MY uterus, MY cervix, MY vagina, MY breasts, MY fu*king ankles and your itty bitty USELESS EASILY REPLACED sperm. when you have a head the size of your fist pass through your penis come talk to me ok. you have the option to go around hitting people, its just called assault and battery.
2. as for the deinfining it as a person, for the first 12 weeks after fertilization the EMBRYO -not the fetus or the baby; the embryo- isn't considered by the government or the medical community alive, it is non-viable. can't murder something if it wasn't alive to begin with. now religion and personal beliefs say it is but guess what your personal beliefs have nothing to do with mine and my choices about my body.
3. as i said in one the only thing you contribute to the whole process is 2 minutes of sex and some sperm which you replenish in about 10 seconds. lets see what i do- i deal with the hormones, i become a whale, i go through 9 months of contractions, cravings, craziness, crankiness, pain, and more. my cervix goes from being smaller than a pen to fitting the entire baby and my vagina goes from taking a penis to taking a baby, after 9 months of carrying the baby. then we have the childbirth- the tearing, pain, and tears. and all you do is give me ice chips and tell me to breath. i've never been pregnant and i know all that so yes i can be pro-choice. the guy can have some say in the matter but its ultimately her body and her decision.
4. actually athiesm is a religion. its a belief system, a religion doesnt mean god. and almost all religions are pro-life. they call it murder and say to be a homosexual means your going to hell and you've forsaken religion. my best friends gay and he still has a religion. ask the majority of pro-life supporters what their religion is and i guarantee you you'll find few athiests.
5. its not a private decision, its a personal one. its about a womans own body. your mother-in-law analogy is useless since your involving another woman. if you wanted to castrate yourself that your choice. if you wanted to pay someone to make you a woman again personal choice. my body, my personal choices- breast implants, birth control, and abortion. all of them my choices about MY BODY.
6. 5 talks a bit about my choices. and you can decide what school your kids go to. public private 10 minutes away 30 minutes 5 hours. you have all these analogies that have nothing to do with yourself and your own body which is what abortion is about. it is about a woman and her body. not making a decision involving someone else but herself only and her body. if i want i can get breast reduction for MY breasts, i can buy playtex tampons instead of kotex for MY vagina, i can wear heels instead of flates for MY feet. get it- MINE.
no 60 year old wrinkly balled congressman whose only action comes from when he sexually assaults a page is going to tell me that i dont have the choice to get an abortion. nor will he ever tell a 13 year old incest victim, or a 17 yearold or 35 year old rape victim, or a 15 year old prostitute, or a 21 year old college student, or any other woman any other age that she's not allowed to have an abortion either.
i would never have one personally, but every woman should have that right no matter what.

I prefer 'pro-death,' but your counter-arguments are easily shot down, as well:

1) no, but you can cut it off if you really want to.

2) A fetus that can't survive outside the womb is pretty clearly not a person yet. Also, the constitution (14th amendment) does grant citizenship to those born in the US, not those concieved in the US, that would tend to imply personhood occurs at birth.

3) I'd accept the aregument that those who have never served shouldn't be anti-war.

4) The anti-choice crowd is overwhelmingly christian.

5) Yes, but that's a health hazard.

6) You can certainly decide where to have your kids schooled - if you don't expect the state to pay for it.

You seem to be aware of the arguments on both sides. That is a good thing. We get tired of people deliberately ignoring the other side's arguments as if that makes their side stronger.

I am pro-abortion, but VERY pro-restrictions on it, or consequences. Many are afraid to debate (and some of the other side as well) when they don't WANT to understand the other side, and truth always makes that hard. Each side has some truth (they may not be right, but they have some truth to their arguments).

What a world if everyone could concede an argument when they realized the other side had made a point.

Because the religious right takes the position that they are morally right to have an anti-abortion stance, and it's hard to argue or debate about moral positions.

You'd have to get the conservatives to agree that morality is NOT the main issue at stake, and that won't happen if they truly believe they are morally correct to oppose abortions.

You sound like someone with a mind like concrete. Totally mixed up and permanently set!
Being pro choice (freedom) is NOT the same as being pro abortion.
And most of your arguments hold no water. They are just arguments to argue. Nothing established worth even thinking about....

I honestly can't see the reason why someone wouldn't want to debate someone as mature, insightful and respective of others' opinions like you. Because after all, you are clearly the epitome of thoughtful insight and reasoning.

Meanwhile, when a teenage girl gets raped and becomes pregnant at age fifteen, you can explain to her why she can't get an abortion. Maybe you can compare her abortion to killing her mother and burying her in the backyard.

They don't want to debate because they already know in their hearts that they are wrong. It's just that simple. When we return to the things of God this will cease to be an issue. I loved your reasoning. Hey, there are NO atheist in heaven.
Women have control over their body, that's true enough. Their the one who said yes to having sex. But God is the one who put a baby in her womb. It takes humans to make another human so why is there this discuss about life...NO ONE should be able to TAKE A LIFE. It isn't right to segment this out by any definition..Life begins the moment the sperm makes it to the egg within the woman. That's when it starts and it isn't completed until the baby is full term and delivered into the world. We have as a Nation created our own path to destruction because of the millions of babies whose blood cries out from the ground for justice. And believe me, unless we turn this around we will be signing our own death warrant.
