We have been at our apartment for 3yrs, cable satellites were allowed to be attatched to the balconies, now we have a new manager who is saying we must pay a deposit of $200 to have them on the balcony, does this seem right ?

When you get new landlords, new rules and regulations can be put into place. As long as they provided you written notice of the change, then yes this is legal.

Probably depends what state you live in. In NJ no this wouldn't be legal. Also why would he require a deposit? If you move, it's very simple to remove.

contact your local landlord and tenant act...does this deposit of 200 get returned when you move? is it in your lease? these are questions you can ask* Look in the blue pages in the phone book* Best wishes

I don't see how he can require that in the middle of the lease. Now, if you do not have a lease, then yes he can do that. Or when you sign a new lease he can then require it.

It's legal as long as he gave you written notice.
