I got into a car accident in CA and was living in CA at the time. About 6 months later I had to move back to NC. I still live in NC. Before I got into the accident I had broken my spine. THe day I got into the accident was about 7 months into healing of my spine. I am still going through therapy and seeing the dr. I didn't have apid like I did before the fusion (after the accident if got worse) My question is, I have been told that I have to get a lawyer from NC and CA to file suit against the insurance company. I have medical damages from that accident. I will eventually have to have another fusion of my spine done as well because of that accident. But, if I get both lawyers that will kill any amount of money I get from the insurance. WIth some fees as small as 25% I had heard and some more plus fees. It will leave me with nothing. Well something but nothing comparibly to what the lawyers get. I have heard that some lawyers will pay out of their fee if another lawyer is needed. HELP

The accident occured in California why does a NC attorney need to get involved? That makes no sense. You only need the one attorney and make sure any medical treatments you are receiving his office continues to get those records. I had an accident in Florida and returned to New York to continue treatment and be closer to my family since I needed help. I never retained another attorney. At most you will eventually have to fly back to california.

those human beings are all incorrect (except break of day), this is a sturdy social gathering of why Yahoo solutions isn't an rather sturdy position for criminal questions. the answer on your question is devoid of doubt one in each of the second one state of affairs, yet likely neither. It does count on what jurisdiction you're in, yet maximum jurisdictions require the decide to award lawyer's prices depending on the lifelike fee of the amenities presented, and the loser has to pay those prices. at the same time as your lawyer works on contingency, that complicates concerns because the decide will commonly no longer enable the finished a million/third to be paid less than the suited established. So, say for instance you recuperate 30K, and the decide decides lawyer's prices could be 5k. The loser then will pay 35k. Your lawyer is entitled to at least a million/3 of the crucial damages - 10k. He does no longer get a larger percentage because lawyer's prices are presented. then you ought to pay him the different 5k out of your damages, and also you flow domicile with 25k. yet another social gathering: Damages are 30k, decide decides lawyer's prices could be 7k. Loser will pay 37k, you supply that 7k to the lawyer, and yet another 3k out of your damages to make an excellent 10k, and also you flow domicile with 27k. if you're getting criminal professionals prices because of a value-shifting provision in a freelance, then your opponent in simple terms may ought to pay the finished contingency. that's an argument of settlement interpretation for the actuality-finder.

Often personal injury attorneys will cooperate and divide a contingent fee based on the percentage of work each attorney does. If you are living in North Carolina, an attorney there can often make arrangements to work on a cooperative basis with one in California. The best thing to do is to ask.

Sigh.

You will not need two lawyers - at least I do not think so. There is no reason NC has any real jurisdiction over the case. Your lucky though: personal injury lawyers often allow for free consultations. Go ahead and consult a local attorney and listen to his/her advice.

You don't need a NC lawyer. You can file suit in only one location, and that should be California. You only need a lawyer where the suit is filed.
