Be happy with what you are doing right now. Don't think "when I get this or that I'll be happy, and if I don't I'll be unhappy".
Can the object of desire intrinsically cause happiness, and does its absence intrinsically cause unhappinesss? What is happiness? When it naturally passes do we automatically become unhappy?
It lies with the fundamental nature of the mind, and realisation of how things, including oneself actually exist. Then, it is possible to see others from the standpoint of a more natural state of awareness.
Have compassion, have wisdom.

The happiness which we get as a human is actually not a happiness but a pleasure. Eternal happiness can be achieve only by an Angel, that's what you are after you die if did a good job while living in this globe.

The key here is eternal. Since man is mortal, eternal happiness can only be found in death. So sad!! And if there is no great hereafter, well I guess we are SOL there too. My best advice...... enjoy every day as if it were your last. And who wants to be happy all the time???? It feels good to be a bit crusty every now and then.... and so human too.

Eternal happiness doesn't exist. In order to have happiness, a person must first have some sort of discontent. It is all rooted in the pleasure principle laid out by Freud. For instance, if someone was never hungry, then they would never get happiness from eating. If some one was never sleepy, they would never get happiness from sleeping, etc.

eternal happiness, however, i think is almost none existant. you can;t just be happy forever, you'd be a bit strange otherwise. you've got to experience sadness, that's wat makes a person interesting, when they have had good experiences, but also when they have had bad experiences, and they can help others to get through bad times.

The first step is to be totally a peace with ones self,to accept your bad points ( the easy bit) and your good points ( the hard bit ) and then realise you mixture of the two, if you can do that, then you are a better man than me,

through understanding that this life is not the end of all things. That we are created by a Supreme Being, and that our eternal nature is good.
