i was using my shop vac on my truck and the machine just quit running. checked power to the unit. electricity was good. tried the vac again. no go. unit is dead. has anyone els had this problem? tried turning off and on , and no go. help. unit is only a
year old and i have never vacummed up any water.

The really sad news here is that ShopVac motors are notorious for burning out, from heat overload. Most of them don't have a reset breaker so when they go, they just go. As for not having picked up any water, that has nothing to do with it. The motor cages are made for picking up water, it's picking up dust and grime without a foam or paper filter on the cage that causes problems.

Sounds like the overload on the motor tripped. Look for a small button and push in to reset. It may also be the on/off switch. Pull the plug,take switch apart and jump the two wires which go to the switch together. Put electrical tape around the wires so they dont short out. plug the unit in. If it runs, the switch was bad.

If I were you I'd have a few flings with a couple of kitchen appliances. That will teach that Shop Vac for breaking up with you

try the switch that was whats wrong with mine
