This is the only story I know of
Over the last few weeks, CBS News has created an unwanted firestorm, at least to them. Dan Rather broke what he thought would be a ground breaking story about shady goings-on during President Bush's National Guard Service.
It seems that the authenticity of the documents was in question and CBS News was not willing to release its sources.
Since this bruhaha erupted, CBS has appologized, but it still will not relase its source. Here is where the election impact comes in. Besides the negative image the story puts on Bush, if the source proves to be linked with the Democratic Party, watch out. Rathergate could live up to its billing.
That's it for now. Stay tuned to see if this rumor pans out, if not good, the election process is dirty enough. It doesn't need one of the most trusted names in broadcast new soiled.

There was a story on the news last night about 2 cars that crossed the median in Atlanta and the drivers were killed in head-ons. The media immediately made it out to be a problem because of the absense of concrete dividers and just a really wide grassy area.
But I know someone who works as a dispatcher and they said in both cases the officers noted the drivers were on their cell phones.
So really it was a clear and obvious case of people being distracted while on their cell phones and losing control because of that. But instead the media focused on the need to build more concrete dividers.
As usual, rather than confront the real source of the problem, they just provide a reactionary story.
Global warming is no different.

It's not a matter of lying by the media. Reporting is as good as the information the reporter receives. Bad information sometimes gets mixed in with the good stuff, particularly when there are time limitations.
Plus, people lie in public all the time. How many people accused of a crime deny it at first (a denial that is carried in the media), then confess later? Lots.
Don't blame the messenger.

I believe the press was instrumental in nailing Bruno Hauptmann as the kidnapper of Charles and Anne Morrow Lindberg's baby. One could hardly say the media lied outright, but they certainly conspired with the authorities in a trail-by-media against a man who was only loosely connected to the evidence.

It's not a case of printing lies. It's just that they don't care about the truth.Look at all the people in here that quote some obvious lie in their post. They just get it on the news or read it in the paper and figure it must be true. Remember believe half of what you hear and none of what you read. Classic case. When they said Clinton had sexual intercourse with that fat chick. He only got a hummer. That's not sexual intercourse.

The easiest way to get an answer is to switch on TV or radio or open the page of news and events on the net that is on Dec,31 or a week before each year for the round-up and that sums up it all or you are wanting a new catch for yourself. Take in good humor, please!
