We had a horse with a similar show name (his sire or grand sire -I can't remember which- was Zippo Pine Bar). We called him Zip, but I'm sure there are a ton of Zips out there. What about Luke or something? You could try taking the letters from his name and brain storming names or words that start with each of the letters- you could get a pretty good list that way.

Since Zippo is a kind of lighter I'd try something like--
Fire or Flame.
Other names include--(made from letters in registered name)
Zippy
Hippo
Pippin
Poppy
Other than that just look at his characteristics and personality and name him based off of that.

I'm testing a horse tomorrow with the name of Thyme (like the spice). Look for spice names that are pretty interesting and sometimes exotic.

Maybe something that says what type of mood he is always in. If he is the type you have to push out of bed in the morning, how about "first gear" or maybe "statue"? Or maybe if he is always bolting, you could call him "rocketman" cause he is always trying to "take off" or possibly something like "two eyes" cause he dosent wear glasses.
Or you could try something really catchy like "Bonehead", that will make you and your friends smile everytime you yell for him in the field. Or maybe "mothman" cause hes fast and light on his feet, but people rarely see it and its only at night . lol
My horse is named "big mac" cause he sure is one all beef patty, sometimes he acts like he full of "special sauce", he likes veggies (lettuce pickles), he cuts plenty of cheese and he has nice buns. lol
it should be something that you think of when you think of him.

One word names are very unique.I have a friend that sells mules every year he picks a theme. It has gone from cars to candy bars movie characters and more So I would suggest maybe picking a theme and go from there.
