Some people are afraid to be different. No matter how stupid the trend to be with the in crowd they will do it. Don't look down on these people and by all means do not ever emulate them. Show them that being different isn't weird or wrong. In other words lead by example. Many famous people throughout history did not follow trends. They either did not have the time or they didn't see any reason to be a sheep as you put it. Please also remember that 'sheep' have feelings too.

Ego much? Your fashion sense is obviously not that unique if you see it everywhere. Also common sense says that if you go to school or have a job then the thousands of people you see live in the same local area and shop at the same places. Of course, common sense would have already said that there's more important things to a person than clothes and there's better ways to spend your time. Is there really nothing to you but clothes? I can remember what I did today, who I hung out with, and the work I accomplished. I can't tell you what my friends were wearing or even everything I was wearing. I don't waste that much time into something so pointless UNLIKE EVERYONE ELSE~ I guess in that aspect you're just one of the many shallow sheep.

while i follow some trends, some i don't(some fashion trends just don't fit my personality) there are people who do not have a strong family connection and see following trends as connecting with a group(like a family) i am very connected but very different from my 5 brothers and sisters and i know that they love me anyway.

THANK YOU. I am so sick of the silly little fads that zip through! Like ripped up mangled jeans. They're so ugly and yet last year everyone had gigantic rips down their legs, and now all the girls cut up their jeans below their back pockets so it's impossible to wear regular underwear!

I do my own thing and am very proud of it. I've never followed a fad or a 'look'.

People are animals, and have a strong need to be an accepted part of the herd!! When you are your own person and wear what you want, you separate yourself from the herd, stand out, and make yourself vulnerable to the onslaughts of the rest of the herd!!!

I am too old to follow fashion I just wear what is off the rack.
But since most people wear whats off the rack we all look alike.
Is everybody happy?

The reason is most people lack the self confidence to be themselves. Most people want to be accepted by their peers and to some it means they are willing to adopt a cookie cutter image to get that acceptance.

Because you would be outcast by your peers, and would not get dates and not keep a job. I have had instructors preach tolerance of diversity then turn around and tell me what I could not wear in class.

I wear what i want...sometimes it's what is in fashion/trendy, sometimes it's not. Actually...sometimes I won't wear something just because it's TOO trendy...it's like, "Hey have you seen so'n so? she's wearing -------- and ------." Oh wait...that's what every single female (and a couple males) in building are wearing!
