my parents hate the music i listen to. they don't heate rock. they just hate non-christian rock. they ate system of a down and i can't stop listening to them. they say the music is rotting my mind and putting the wrong ideas inmy head. i mainly listen to it for themusiccuz of their gr8 use of chords and stuff so wat should do to SHUT MY PARENTS UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE?!?!?!?!?

How loud do you have your music? Do you blare System of a Down just to annoy your parents? (And I mean, come on, is there any really other way to listen to System?) :)
I had the same problem with Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson when I was in high school. My stepdad was always telling me I was going to Hell for liking Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson- as if that would stop me from listening to them. My stepsister wasn't allowed to listen to Puff Daddy because he used explicit lyrics and apparently, that was just as bad and she was going to Hell too. In fact, I had to take back the CD I got her for Christmas.
I recommend you either use headphones or listen to System at a lower level. If you can hear it out in the hall when you have your door closed, it's too loud. Also, don't talk about System when your parents are around. Sucks, I know, but do this and eventually, your parents will shut up about your music and leave you alone. Mine did.

The kind of music you listen to is an expression of who you are and nobody can change that. My mom hates it too. Although there probably isn't anything you can say to make them feel different, you are who you are and you won't be happy if you just listen to what they like. I'd die if I listened to what my mom listens to. So be yourself! And by the way System of a Down ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

System rules!
Dont mind your parents. They are too far perverted by their Judeo-Christian ideals to accept anything not "mainstream". Besides, System isn't too "bad" for most (not including She's Like Heroin and the like).
As for you parents, maybe if you got a big enough stick and the right angle.... Just kidding. Maybe you should force, err, let them listen to some black metal?

tell them you have the right to choose what kind of music you listen to and just because it might say some things that they don't like doesn't mean you are going to go out and do them, and if you do then i highly doubt it is the musics fault. tell them that you are not that weak as to hear something in a song and have to do it. good tunes is good tunes. they wont make you do anything you werent already going to do.

well, They have a right to be concerned. If you can show them what you appreciate about their music, maybe they will understand. How about you research some christian rock groups that have good chords.

Try to listen to instrumental rock for a while.. there´s great stuff to choose from: steve vai, joe satriani, yngwie malsteem, many songs from metallica and others. Great guitars them all.

lol if u hav an ipod u shuld just put the earphones in ur ear and turn up the volume real loud. it wuld be funny if ur parents were still rambling on about how u shuldnt listen to it..
