Okay, sorry ladies and gents, but I know most of you can get the gist of that.

I am just worried that if i don`t get enough excersize or water with it, that it will make the problem worse. I never took anything like it before, so does it actually...um relieve you? And how soon

I just want to add, I drink at least 10 glasses of water a day, eat porridge every morning, and a salad too... I eat toast every morning for my after breakfast snack haha

Water is very important, particularly if you take the pill form. I don't think it will make things worse though. It will take several days to work.

For immediate relief use glycerin suppositories -the infant dose is more than enough for most women. It is safe during pregnancy because it is not absorbed. This should be combined with dietary changes to prevent the problem from coming back.

Definitely get the doctor's ok before you start Metamucil. Children are more susceptible to GI blockage which can be caused by fiber. It is more likely to happen with the wafer and insufficient water. I have given my 3 year-old Metamucil under a doctor's recommendation. I gave her 1/2 tsp in 2-3 ounces of juice daily. The types of fiber that disolve better (like Benefiber) can be easier to give because you can hide it in more stuff but again - get the doctor's ok. My daughter had the opposite problem - diarrhea so I think there was less worry about blockage.

I've tried both and I recommend Benefiber instead. Metamucil is very heavy and may interfere with a normal apetite. NOt only that but it gave me serious stomach cramps. Benefiber is gentler and kinder. You put it in food (yogurt is good) or drink (non-carbonated) and you can't tell it's there at all. But take the normal dosage and in 24 hours you will get "regular" since it's fiber, it will not harm you or baby in any way.

yes it works wonders...usually by the next day, it will work just make sure you use the recommended amount of water with it, and excersize is not necessary

I took benefibre, which is similar. It takes a while to kick in, but yes you do get the relief of being regular.

Metamucil is a daily fiber therapy. I think you need a laxative, like ex-lax. Ex-Lax works in a couple of hours. If you're really desperate, suppositories work the quickest.
