Bass guitar. Bands are always on the search for good bass players because many prefer to play lead or rhythm guitar, piano, or drums.

Drums but I play drums so I'm partial. I've had an interest in the bass for a bit. May learn it one day?

Drums are a more vital part of most songs. As the White Stripes proved, you don't even need a base guitar to be an awesome band. Jack White just tore it up on an electric guitar.

Well from what i know about guitars
(i play guitar)
I would say it depends.

In several bands i have seen live the drummer always has fun and makes funny faces *cough Bob Bryer in all there music video's* and they just always look like there having a good time.

Bass players always look bored for some reason *Mikey Way* and Mikey hides in the shadows during most music video's and what i have seen on you tube of them

It depends on what you want that's all I'm saying

Drums, they are the backbone of any band, where as some bands are great without a bass (the White Stripes)

While the drummer DOES keep the timing of the song track, a Bass is essential to any true DEEP, Darl driving beat. But then again a drummer who can kick you in the teeth (metaphorically speaking of course) has my vote. I still say "give me a simple "A" Chord that can crack your ribs rather than a bunch of notes that sound like a mob of angry bees" - Gene Simmons, bassist for KISS

You don't have to choose. Keep playing both. Some songs will require your talent/interpretation on guitar, and some others will require your input on drums. Stay versatile!!
