Close your eyes and what do you see in "White Trash Land"?
Dirty old trailers in a dusty, dirty trailer park having beer cans smashed up all over the place. And in front of one of the trailers, there's an old car with it's rusty hood raised, waiting in vain for someone to fix it.
Bubba's coming down the back steps of his trailer with a beer in one hand and a bone for his scruffy mutt that is tied to a scrawny pine tree over by the filthy sofa he'd put outside a few years ago.
And over there, Johnny Ray is telling his pregnant wife, who has bleached-out hair, that he had to quit his job at the auto shop because "I don't like that new manager who thinks he knows more about cars than I do! I'll just go on the road with my cousin Bo in his rig until the unemployment checks start rolling in."
Not to be overlooked is Granny's place. It is fairly neat...it's the one with a flower pot next to the bottom step. She has a few meager lawn ornaments stuck around her black sandy yard. The smell of fried pork chops and collard greens is coming thru her window as she pokes her head out the door calling her grandkids to come on in and get ready to eat. They don't come right away so she has to come on outside in her stained house dress that is flowing loose about her, as she hollers for them to get their *@&^!%
to the house RIGHT NOW! Suddenly two little boys with holey jeans and no shirts come running out from behind their neighbors place, giggling with mischief in their eyes.
Jenny Lou watches from the back of her parked 1958 Cheverolet pickup, her attention diverted for just a moment from the country music she's listening to on the radio.
I'd tell ya more, but I 'm on my way to the local diner where I work..........
