It says that Congress was willing to grant the President the ability to "waive" the deadline on the bill. Does this mean that he could basically ignore the withdrawal date?

Yes, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't require a vote in congress to be able to change the date. I know all of what the democrats are doing is being missed by almost everyone. If we don't keep pushing for progress in Iraq, it will just go on and on without any as it did for four years. Its as simple as that. Frankly, I applaud them. Its really a new approach to this type of conflict and actually very sensible. Manipulating but sensible. Its too bad nobody gets it.

Ted Kennedy came up with that one very late the night before they wrote up the bill.

Probably, thus the congress has done nothing and Bush gets his way. Way to go Dems. You are well on your way to really screwing up. what in hell is the matter with you.

how much clearer does the public have to make it that they want our troops home.. we want the war over.. and we want Bush out of here.

But is you wimps in congress keep hedging, then nothing will have been gained and you sure as hell will not get any votes come election time.

So make up your minds.. are you going to appease Bush or the American people.?
