While we call ourselves the land of the free, we are not. We watch every word we say for fear of offending someone. WTF is that?? We are told our religion is wrong because it goes against what someone else believes....which, again, is crap. But we do have the freedom to practice whatever religion we want, we can also say whatever we want. Within the guidelines of the constitution, I can say that I hate the president and wish he'd die, and I have full legal right to do so. Whether or not that's my real opinion is entirely personal, and quite frankly, no one else's business. But every day we give just a little more for "the sake of National Security." We must all remember the words of Ben Franklin: "Those who give up a little bit of freedom for a little bit of security deserve neither Freedom nor Security".....Winston Churchill went on to say that if such were the case, that person will soon find that they have neither freedom nor security. And since 9/11, we've done nothing but give up freedom after freedom for the illusion of security. And what do we have to show for it? A war that no one can win....our good men and women dying for a few gallons of oil.....and economic downfall of our own nation while we try to fix others. Don't get me wrong...I love our country, I support our troops whole heartedly, hell, I work for the Army. I fear where our leadership in government is taking this country, and I fear that any change might be too little, too late.

That is a VERY good question. In spite of the rhetoric, the average person does not understand that American democracy has faded to a constitutional republic a long, long time ago. Freedom of speech crouches fearfully in the corner. Many personal freedoms have been taken away, along with our privacy. And then there's the matter of the vote. Can we really influence goverment by casting a ballot? Or do we need to contribute huge sums of money to back political campaigns to get their attention.
Finally, if the terrorists really hate Americans for the freedoms we enjoy, why haven't they dropped the bomb on Sweden?

We get free commercials with our subscription television. We get extra cold fries with "That".We get to go 20 miles over the speed limit while being "pushed" by the flow of truck and other traffic on the major highways that still have speed limits from two decades ago. We get potholes every year in the spring to remind us that winter is finally over. We have the pleasure of seeing various women and men yakking on their cell phones while mindlessly driving thru traffic as if they're the only ones on the road. We are the most occupied country in the world (it seems)We seem to like to bit*ch about something everyday as if it's our god given right, heritage and freedom. (Go Team)

You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to counsel if arrested. If you go to an emergency room you have a right to a certian amount of care before they kick you out. And you have the right to pay taxes.
