i like this one ...purely due to the fact, that while answering this question, I am also trying to answer myself xxx. Just as all of the good people above have proven. Disappointment is as deep as you allow it to take you. everyone has "cut off" points which is a human ability...it just depends how deeply you allow the disappointment to go. Yes you will go "in yourself" for a time if its a bad situation you dwell on but your own mind has a point (normally) to which the brain says "hang on a sec! no no no!" and then interests or friends or just plain old life give way to overall effect of the disappointment because in time the old brain gets bored of it and needs to move on to something else. Everyone is different as to how they deal with situations but that is just what it is "a situation" a point in time that will move on and disappear and fade to make room for more special things. Its kind of like a bad cold. Horrible to deal with at the time but quickly forgotten after the event xxxx

Disappointment is a part of life we all go through. Whether it's a person who disappoints us or a situation that happens, it is always a learning experience. No one goes through life without experiencing disappointment so pick yourself up, brush yourself off and keep going. The feeling won't last forever and something better will happen before you know it and you'll forget about this.

I have worked at a front desk for almost 8 years, and know what, I have had to tell guests to calm down to make them realize I am trying to help them, then tell them to leave if they can not calm down, then I call the cops /and let them know I am calling the cops because they are making rude comments to me and therefore verbally abusing me at my place of work. I have run into some pieces of work, usally the hockey parents who are half in the bag when they are checking in and have never booked ahead of time, or not know what room type they have booked. Once a very rude regular couple tried to check in at 9am in a suite, which was booked till atleast 11am, and were cursing their heads off, I told them to calm down or i would call the cops, the man said,"thats fine, my dads a cop", latter I smelled them smoking weed in their room so I called the cops...he already had a record, lol I just keep my head up high and remind them I am doing everything to get things right and NEVER say , "I don't know", say "let me find out ! P.S. I have also denied a whole adult hockey team since they had checked out and left their rooms so BAD, then came in drinking beer into the lobby and demanded cheapest rates that were no exisitent..etc, I told them they had to go by my rules if they wanted to check in, they left and couldn't find another motel so half of them came back crawling and apolgizing , so I made them cookies and milk that night for not partyin' it up that night, lol

The truth..you can't-You just have to ride it out. That's the sucky thing about feelings, you can't help how you feel..just try to occupy your mind with anything and hopefully you can escape your worry for a moment.

I have to deal with disappointment daily-and I try to occupy myself every moment of my life by being silly ...Yahoo answers helps too -then you feel like you can find someone to understand how you are feeling at the moment!

The way I've become to see things is saying 'what can I do to change what has happened?', the answer is obviously nothing so whats the point in dwelling--you have to just think theres nothing you can do so dont waste you time thinking about it. Pick yourself up and move on.

I stare off into space for about an hour (why do we do that?) and then I take a deep breath, say "oh well" and get on with life.

I keep it locked in and try to carry on. Unfortunately it can back fire if you do it to often and it all comes out at the same time.
