Im currently using Bt home hub total broadband option 2.. I download torrents quiet alot through bitcomet and for some reason after midnight I seem to get faster speeds eg 350kb/s+ but during the day can be as little as 5kb/s Ive set up my firewall and rooter to let bitcomet through and at night its fine. But why so slow in the day????

If it is a cable modem, if there are a lot of people online in your area, your throughput suffers. I do most of my heavy downloading (bitcomet) while I sleep so I can surf at a decent speed during the day. I get around 2 megabits per second during the day and 5.9 after midnight

Internet connection speed depends on the amount of traffic there is in the whole ISP network.

It is the same as if you were in the freeway. If there is no traffic you can go fast, but if it's 5pm, you won't be able to go around freely

Or you could also imagine a water supply at home. If you only open one griffin, you'll get good pressure. If you open all water sources, it will decrease.

I hope this has been helpful
