No, it is not a general trend. There are a few celebrities that seem to try on a gay relationship or same-sex make-out sessions seemingly as a publicity stunt.
In general though I think that the people that you are meeting that are gay today and not tomorrow are not yet comfortable with their sexuality. And who knows maybe they are bisexual.

I am so sick of these people saying they are gay or that they love gays 'cause they're nice. They don't even know what they are talking about. It's become an insult with a completely different meaning now!!! WHY DO PEOPLE THINK IT'S JUST A GAME!!!??? IT'S A FRIGGIN' WAY OF LIFE!!! I know this much and I'm STRAIGHT! Why do people have to be immature about it. Thank u for asking because i thought i was the only one who understood that it's not just for fun! And i'm sry I don't have a myspace. :(

I thought it was a trend in the 70's right after being black. I guess history does repeat itself.
Actually - after being out for 20 years - I think it is rather boring. Not dull - just not as sensationalized like it used to be. More like regular everyday life. Gay bars are not patronized like they used to be so they are dwindling away and becoming straight, the rainbow stuff is not seen as much as it used to be.

It can not be a trend. A trend is done consciously. It is a choice. Being gay in not. It just seems that way because people are more accepting of gays and so they don't stay hidden in the closet. so you see more of them. The people that can't make up their mind are just a little confused.

Not sure about gay, but its trendy to be bi in highschool and college for girls. In my highschool and college years, 90% of my girlfriends were "bi". Most now have kids and are married, and laugh about their experimenting...
It's an age thing. They'll settle down with who they truely are as they get older...

Yeah it's in style and fashionable to be yourself!
Although it seems more trendy for christians/bible thumpers to tell you to lie to yourself, because Jesus will love you more, and you can get into Heaven. Need an example, see the person who answered above me.

*I think it's becoming a fast trend indeed.
.It seems to me that more and more people are beoming quite comfortable with their sexuality. And they aren't afraid to tell or show it to anyone.
~I think it's great, I mean why deny how you feel...just because society thinks or says it's wrong?! Forget them.
.....I am not saying for everyone to follow the fad or whatever, but I mean if you know you like the same sex...then why deny it to yourself or anyone?

it is a trend and it's sad because being gay is a sin. it's morally wrong. the Bible has so many verses that speak out against it but unfortuantely society today has labled it 'okay'

It's not a "trend" per say.
It's just that it's more acceptable these days and more people are getting comfortable to admit it.
