Here's a good page:

But, if you'll be moving a far distance away, you might consider tearing your tank down and selling your stock to make sure you don't kill any fish during travel.

It's better to get some real fish bags from the fish store -they hold more water and more air to get your fish through the trip. Double bag them to make sure, and put the bags in coolers to keep the temperature stable and the fish in the dark, which helps. Also bag your filter media in the same manner, that way your bacteria will be intact on the other end. Don't feed the fish for a couple of days before so that they clear their systems and keep the bags cleaner.

Both options of either selling your fish or using bags from the local fish store are good options. Zip lock bags could open up during travel. If your really attached to your fish then you will want to get the bags from the pet store and double bag them. Adding a little salt to the water will also help keep the fish calmer while traveling.

Ziplocs can leak - that's a long trip - you will need bags like those at the store, but still no guarantees on survival. Can you find them a new home? Sometimes stores will take them back. Might be your best bet.

here is what you do. go to walmart get a large plastic container with lid. go to the sporting goods department of walmart and get a battery opperated air pump. put water out of the tank into the plastic container and add the air pump. then add the fish. add some stress coat and put the lid on you may have to cut a hole in the lid for the air pump. but you need the lid to keep the fish from jumping out. good luck

It's okay for the short term but not if they will be in the bags for 15 hours.

ziploc bags are just fine, even a big garbage bag that doesn't have a scent to it is fine. your worry is when your vehicle isn't moving for a long period of time. also pay attention to the temp. if its really hot esp.

They can't survive in plastic bags for 30 hours...unless they're still in the tank.
