It's hard for me to say. The symptoms you're describing sound like they are brought on by hormones. Your body is adjusting to something, but I don't know if it's your period or not.
If you have had underarm hair and vaginal secretions for 18 months or more, I think you might be close to starting.
Having your period is not pleasant at all. However, there are ways to ease the pain.
Here are some tips for cramps:
1. Sit in a hot bath.
2. Have some hot food or a hot drink.
3. Curl up with an electric heating pad.
4. Wear a heating pad. ThermaCare makes heating pads that stick to the inside of your pants. You'd be surprised how much heat helps.
5. Take Advil, Ibuprofen, Tylonel, or some other kind of pain reliever and/or muscle relaxer (tell you mother you have a headache, if necessary).
6. Try not to shift position too often, as that can upset your uterus. When you take a seat, sit down slowly.
7. The most comfortable positions for you are lying on your back propped up by pillows and lying on your side; these positions take weight off of your uterus.
8. Stick to pads while you have cramps. I'm not sure why, but tampons cause pain sometimes.
9. Avoid caffeine, which can cause your uterus to contract harder.
10. Massage your uterus (rub the area on your belly where you are having the pain).
As for the headaches, I think that Tylonel or Advil will take care of it easily.
Mood swings are difficult, but if you keep remembering that things aren't as bad as you think because you are hormonal, you will be allright.
Before and during your period, wear a good bra to support your breasts if they get tender. A little nausea is also normal, so try sipping ginger ale.
I hope I helped!

The same thing happened to me. I was having bad mood swings (i would laugh and then cry over nothing), lower belly cramps, and bad headaches. I thought I was going to get my period and even my mom ( shes a nurse) said that I should be getting soon. But then I didnt get it. It is really hard to tell but if this keeps on going on for a week or so i would say it is good chance that you would be getting it soon. Dont worry I still havent got mine and everyone says I will get it pretty soon and I know how you feel. :)
Hope this helps you.

well, before I got my first period there were like 3 random times where i had extremely bad cramping where i was on the verge of tears and I thought I would be getting my period but I didn't untill long after. And now that I have my period, my symtoms aren't anything like they were before I had my period, i just have a backache but no cramps. you might and you might not. The doctor once told me that girls sometimes have premenstration where they're not bleeding but they have the syptoms. also, talk to your mom, she might be able to help you. good luck.

when i was a lil younger, i was a girl who developed very early, in grade 6 my breasts were already a d cup, so you can see what im talking about. so i no that my doc told me when i was going to start my period, she gave me a lil physical and then told me i think about 3 months, and BOOM, three months and a couple of days i had my period. talk to your mom, aunt, sister, a close female who is can help you adjust in this time of your life, you'll be fine, like everyone else has said , talk to someone, get all your supplies ready (including MIDOL it will be your new best friend). GOOD LUCK!

This is advice from someone who started their period at the exact same age- it will just happen, trust me. Neither or, nor my friends, had any signs or implications that it had started, until it did. However, just to be safe, bring a pad to school, so you don't have to call your mom, or worse, get one from the nurse. ^_^ Oh, and usually, your first period won't happen around a certain time, it will usually appear at a REALLY unexpected time, so be ready.

While there is a way to calculate when a period is due after you have already had one, there is no way to calculate when your first period might begin.
It sounds like you may be experiencing some pre-menstrual symptoms. Keep supplies with you just in case and congratulations on this turning point in your life!

ohhhhh honey......I also have my 10 year old going through some of your symptoms. My first advice to you is to talk to your mom!!! She is also your friend in this matter. And go to your doctor.........he will have more questions for you to better understand what your body is going through and to verify that you are not sick of other things.
It does sounds as if your body is ready for puberty and my best advice for you is to carry a pad in your back pack or purse so if it arrives while in school or other public place you are ready...........but talk to your mom/doctor they know best! Friends can give you advice or exaggerated information to you but remember every body is different.

sounds like you are getting ready to start. no one can tell you when, it will just start when it is your time to. Be prepared and carry what you will need in your purse or backpack.Talk with your Mom or Dad about your concerns, they will be expecting this as they had a daughter and these sort of things go along with that.
