I would think so. Polar and Grizzly bears can hybridize. Dolphin and whale. A zebra and a horse can too, which are suppose to be even more different (Genetically) than a human and a human.

Some people say that this has already been done but in secret. If possible it would cause a very interesting debate! It would be hard to say we didn't evolve from some kind of common ancestor if we could hybridize with them.

They can combine bacteria dna with plants and animals. We can use a pigs organ as if it were our own - the possibilities are endless. I think what I just mentioned are a lot more far fetched than a humanzee hybrid and they have already been done!

Although a lot of people would think it's a "bad" thing to do. I would want to see what happens! It could either come out totally human, or totally ape, or something in between. Maybe this explains the huge leaps in evolution - different versions of species kept hybridizing?? It's interesting to notice that when two similar species hybridize it's the positive traits that get passed along more. Or else the baby wouldn't be able to grow up and reproduce itself.

For a serious answer: Despite sharing 99% of our DNA its impossible since chimps (and all great apes) have 24 chromosome pairs and we only have 23. And even if it were genetically possible there is a whole group of ethical questions.
