Part of the answer to your question is location. Right now the Phoenix area is boomingl - it is the fastest growing area in the Nation - and has been in the top 5 % growth areas for a while and I predict it will be for a decade or two at least if not longer. So "Head west young man." As far as positioning your self in the market - that is another matter, where do your interests lie? You need to have a passion in your pursuit to succeed in your choosen profession, in addition to dedication, and a willingness to work hard, and take risks. My Firm is going to open a branch A/E office in Phoneix this year to take advantage of the tremendous growth in the area, All facets of the economy are expanding, as are the demands for all related goods and services, so the opportunites are as varied and open as your talents are. Not into Sales & Retail? How about: Developemnt Companys - Building Malls. Public & Multifamily Housing. Market Rate Condos for Retirees. Comunity & Local Government Service. City Manager, County Auditor, Bank Regulator. Utility Commissioner. County or City HUD Director or Grant Writer / Administrator. EEO/HR Manager. Director of Finance - Municipal or County. County Planner. City Treasurer. Private Sector: CFO Construction or Construction Managerment Firms. CFO Design Build Firms. Projext Manager of Real Estate Developement. Project Manager - Construction Management Firm. Client Representative Banking Industry Loan Manager Hotel & Hospitality Management. Airline Management. Tansportation Control & Managment. The world is your oyster, make of it what you will. Get yourself a copy of the Corporate Gold Book for the Phoenix area, and start reading, The Gold book Describes all manner of Business, and what they do, their size & ranking in the locality they are in, identifies Compmany offficers, history and what they specialize in - etc. If you need to, Go talk to some Head hunters, and find out what they see as "Hot Job" categories. and if those niches fit your talents and interests. Let the Adventure begin, If you need some extra advice on interviww strategies and resume preparations let me know. Good luck. I'm pulling for you.

Any type of office work would be perfect. You can start out as maybe a receptionist or intern and work your way up. I started out working for State Farm as a receptionist and i've been here for just a year and I'm already licensed and moving up.
Just come up w/ a fancy resume and start passing them out. The offices that don't need your help at the time will send them to other offices that do.
Good luck :)

Yes retail sucks! If I were a business major, I would try to intern in the private sector. Go to www.studentjobs.gov ... they have really good jobs on there, and you just make a resume and put it on the website and people contact you back. Its for students, and post grads.

Government. All levels, city, county, State and Federal. Also, of course, would be all branches of the military. Check the various web sites dedicated to employment; business majors are needed just about everywhere. Including running hospitals, nursing homes, offices, real estate.
Good luck.

I have a degree in Business Management and I work for a local wine distributor.
All businesses that provide services or sell products are good choices for a business major.
