The question you asked is asked alot but cant be asked. You never can find that out. There are so many great players in every game that its impossible to tell. Unless there is one that is with no doubt better than all and better than anyone before with a big difference. Someone who does things others cant.
So for this question you will get peoples opinions.
I think there is no best player but there are a few great players

If one goes through the records, Sachin Tendulkar of India will be the best player as he has number of records in his credit. However, since he is out of form for quite some time, he cannot be considered as a best player in the present context. Presently Ricky Ponting of Australia can be considered as the best player as he is very consistent in batting, good fielder and also very good caption.
