Why not just name her "Elle," then? Eleanor is an old lady's name.

Eleanor is very old-fashioned and pretentious sounding. Elle is beautiful though, I also love Ella. Elle Elizabeth not so great together.
Maybe you could find something else to go with Elle.

very old fashioned. However the worlds smartest model Elle McPherson, has the first name Eleanor, so it kinds of adds some coolness. Why don't you name her what you intend to call her? Elle is just fine as a first name listed on the birth certificate.

We're thinking about using Eleanor, and I am worried that it's becoming too popular! I don't think it sounds too old. A lot of old names come back around again. There will be a time years from now where all the hip names of today will be the names of all the old people! It makes me laugh to think about it.
So go for it - it's a nice classic name!

I love Eleanor! Eleanor and Elizabeth sound a bit too smiliar to each other I guess because they are both long versions of my daughter's name... Eleanor is my daughter's name - Eleanor Ruth actually, but she goes by Ellie. We wanted to call her Ellie, but wanted to give her a grown-up option as well. We thought about naming her Elizabeth Ruth, but sounded odd. (Ruth comes from my late mother, so she has two old lady names!) Some other ideas we thought of, you may like:
Eleanor Grace
Eleanor Ann

It is very classic. I like it. That said, it will be a little out of place in today's modern baby naming. That said, I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. I don't like most of the modern names. So I give it a thumbs up. I especially like "Elle."
