Its the starting pitching that's been getting the job done. For me, that was a potential weakness for the team; you knew Glavine would be Glavine, but was John Maine for real? Could Oliver Perez find the strike zone? Jorge Sosa??? You kiddin' me? Well, Maine has been nothing short of brilliant, Perez has found the strike zone, and Sosa has been very good as well. Wagner, Smith and Feliciano have been darn near unhittable, and they've been scoring enough to make the pitching stand up. I still think that if Ryan Howard starts hitting the way he did last season, the Phillies can challenge them, but it wont be an easy task, not if the Mets keep playing like this.

New York is a great place for baseball right now. if you combine the two teams payroll, it is all of the lower half of the salary spectrum teams payroll combined and then some. They are simply amazing. they have ... I think the best team in the NL by far and the second best team (the way the yankees are playing) overall. they deserve a world series apearance. they are just that good.

H.E.L.L. yeah
reyes is a beast, wright's getting hot, beltran canhit 35 hr's and drive in 100 any given year and delgado will get back on track.
Also, their pitching has been fabulous. Tom Glavine has been his vintage self, John Maine is having his breakout year, Oliver Perez is finding his control, and Jorge Sosa has been on fire. in their bullpen, Wagner has been great, Smith has been nearly impossible to score on, and feliciano comes through whenever they need him.
They also have one of the best managers in Willie Randolph, Omar Minaya has been making the right moves, and the fan base has been amazing.
GO METS!

They are an amazing team. I was SO HAPPY about that walk-off win... you never see great moments like that. It was amazing. Everybosy really tried and they came back and didi the impossible. The depth that the Mets have is great and the new guys that have just started are really talented. I can't wait to see them beat the pants off the yankees!!! lol.

I heard the same thing all last season, right up until the playoffs. Then they were knocked out, at home, by a team that finished 15 games behind them during the regular season.
Enjoy their success, but temper your enthusiasm until they've actually done something worth celebrating.
