Use the formula for area of a triangle (which is really the formula for half the area of a rectangle drawn from the legs you describe). 1/2 * b * h where b is the length of the base and h is the height, in this case since it's a right triangle this is easy (1/2) * 36 * 15 = 270 sq. in.

Area = ½ product of the 2 legs = 15*36/2 = 15*18 = 270 in².

Since this is a right triangle, the leg lengths represent the base and the height of the triangle. A right triangle is half of a rectangle. To find the area of a rectangle you multiply the base times the height so to find the area of a triangle, you do the same thing and then divide this in half (since this is twice what you want). A = (bh)/2 or in this case, A = (15x36)/2 = 270 square inches

Area of a right triangle

Area= 1/2 b X h

1/2 (36 x 15)
1/2(540)= 270 sq in.

area of a triangle = 1/2 x Base x Height
so:

.5 x 15 x 36 = 270 inches^2

A=270in ^2(squared)

I believe all problems dealing with area will be a "squared" answer (I used ^2 to show squared symbol)

A = 1/2bh

A = 1/2 X 15 X 36

A = 18 X 15

A = 270 inches ^2

To check..

270 = 15 X 36 X 1/2

yup there you go =]

370 sq inches. Using the formula A= 1/2h x l we have 1/2 (15 x 36) which works out A= 1/2(540) which means A =370.

well since it is a right triange you can do the pythageren therom. the hypotinus will be 39. Now you can use HERON'S FORMULA. (39+15+36)/2=45. Take the Sqrt(45(45-39)(45-15)(45-36)) then you come to an answer of 270 square inches.
