Maus? The graphic novel by Art Spiegelman? I didn't think it was trying to answer a question... I thought it was just a personal history of one man's experience in the Holocaust, as told to his son.

MAYBE you could say the author was asking WHY his father was the way he was, but he didn't really get an answer.
