I have an awkward question to ask...Which ear is considered the gay ear? I think it doesn't matter which ear you get your ear pierced, but this boy in my school just got his ear pierced on the left side, and everybody says that's the gay ear, although he says its not. I just have to know for sure.

In modern society, men who have the right ear pierced is said to be gay. Having the left lobe pierced is simply fad fashion. Having both pierced is also a fashion thing but causes more people to talk.
It seems the "everybody" you speak of is simply looking for something to pick on.

That right ear gay myth is about as idiotic as step on a crack, break your mother's back. I have had my right ear pierced since 1971 and even then there were no truths or reason to the myths...in fact, depending on who you listened to, right was never wrong or left is right. Hey Elton John had his left ear pierced and look what pool he swam in. I'm hetero to a fault and put up with that childish urban legend more than I care to remember. It actually amazes me to hear the myth is still perpetuated and passed down to our children. How appalling. In fact, as a professional musician most of my adult life, back in the 70's, most gay men I ran into had their LEFT ear pierced. Today, most gay men have them BOTH pierced....and even if you're not gay, who the f**k cares what ear you have pierced or if they both are. Are people so incredibly stupid they would think body jewelry is a definitive badge of someone's sexual preference? Time to let such an antiquated legend fade into the past and move into the 21st century....and some people really need to get a life. Peer pressure is such a waste of effort....have the balls to do what you want and stick up for your own decisions.

In the 80's it was "Left is right and right is wrong"

However that's no longer the case. I've been with my share of gay men and I can't remember a single one that actually had their right ("gay ear") pierced.

It's just an out of date stereotype. Tell him to get whatever ear he wants pierced... or both!

Most guys I know, who wear earrings, wear them on the left ear. All but one of these guys is straight. In the Army, back in 1970-73, gays were still banned, but men were allowed to wear an earring on one ear, if they wanted to. I don't recall that they specified which ear.

the right ear is the one known as the one showing that you are gay. he's safe with the left ear, if he's straight. there really isn't anything gay about it though. if it was in the right ear, who would care, and why?

Left ear is not the gay ear. It's not about it being the gay ear its just that girls wear their watch on their right hand and guys on the left so people say that if you wear things on your right you are gay (guys). BULLSHIT...i wear my watch on my left cuz im comfortable. Yes, im bi, but that has absolute NOTHING to do with it. Tell him to brush the haters off :)

I believe I can help you with that. If you are gay then both ears are "the gay" ears. If you are straight then both would be the straight ears.
