Well, when you steal peoples resources, and kill their people they generally get pissed off. If they get angry enough, or are crazy enough, they are going to retaliate.

We have been in the cocaine (the CIA)business in Afghanistan for years. Then we launder the money we make!

We steal their oil, and we kill their leaders! We put in governments, like Saddam Hussein, Castro, and the Shaw of Iran!

The actions were not covert, they were our open foreign policy. Bin Laden very often refers to our presence in Saudi Arabia and our involvement with Israel as primary reasons to attack American citizens and military personnel. Bin Laden said "Muslims should kill civilians and military personnel from the United States and allied countries until they withdraw support from Israel and withdraw military forces from Islamic Countries." These statements were made in 1998 well before the 911 attacks so when Ron Paul suggested our foreign policy may have been a contributing factor on why we were attacked, he would be correct.

That's not quite what Ron Paul said, and bear in mind there was a one minute limit on answers.

REP. PAUL: Well, I think the party has lost its way, because the conservative wing of the Republican Party always advocated a noninterventionist foreign policy.
......

MR. GOLER: Congressman, you don't think that changed with the 9/11 attacks, sir?

REP. PAUL: What changed?

MR. GOLER: The non-interventionist policies.

REP. PAUL: No. Non-intervention was a major contributing factor. Have you ever read the reasons they attacked us? They attack us because we've been over there; we've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East -- I think Reagan was right.

We don't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics. So right now we're building an embassy in Iraq that's bigger than the Vatican. We're building 14 permanent bases. What would we say here if China was doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting. We need to look at what we do from the perspective of what would happen if somebody else did it to us. (Applause.)

MR. GOLER: Are you suggesting we invited the 9/11 attack, sir?

REP. PAUL: I'm suggesting that we listen to the people who attacked us and the reason they did it, and they are delighted that we're over there because Osama bin Laden has said, "I am glad you're over on our sand because we can target you so much easier." They have already now since that time -- (bell rings) -- have killed 3,400 of our men, and I don't think it was necessary.

Why can't people comprehend what Ron Paul's point was?

These USA policies have influenced the rise of anti-americanism in the middle-east.

1. USA support for Israel.
2. USA arms sales to Iraq, Iran, Syria, Saudi, and Jordan in the 1980's

What's so hard to understand?

Yes. It was a big part of the reasons for 9/11. The man just told the truth. Ruby hates the truth is why he wanted Paul to retract his statement. Thank goodness Paul has cajones and didn't.

Dr. Ron Paul simply quoted the 911 Commission Report. Neither he, nor the report, suggested such a thing.

Here's the facts:

Not exactly. But our policies in the Middle East since WWII haven't earned us many fans outside of Israel.

and wow are we (USA) cozy with the UAE!
Halliburton moving HQ there (Dubai)
and a UAE company now operates all major American ports

Does "USA" now (thanks to GWB), stand for "Under Saudi Arabia"?
